Material characteristics of EPDM

1. Aging resistance
EPDM has excellent aging resistance, ozone resistance, heat resistance, acid and alkali resistance, water and steam resistance, color stability, electrical performance, oil filling and room temperature fluidity. EPDM rubber o-ring can be used for a long time at 120ºC, and can be used temporarily or intermittently at 150ºC ~ 200ºC. The application of an appropriate anti-aging agent may increase its application temperature. TDM crosslinking with peroxide can be used under harsh conditions. Under the condition of ozone concentration of 50 pphm and tensile rate of 30%, EPDM can reach more than 150 hours without cracking.

2. Corrosion resistance
Ethylene propylene rubber lacks polarity and low unsaturation, so it has good resistance to various polar chemicals, such as alcohol, acids, alkali, oxidants, refrigerants, detergents, animals and vegetable oils; but it is in aliphatic and aromatic solvents (such as gasoline, benzene, etc.) and mineral oils. Under the long-term action of the concentrated acid, the performance will also decrease. In ISO / TO 7620, nearly 400 corrosive gases and liquid chemicals collect data on their effects on various rubber properties, stipulating 1-4 grades to indicate the degree of action, and the effect of corrosive chemicals on rubber properties.
